Small Trans Zine: Summer 2026!
This is the Small Trans Zine submission page! This is for anyone who has attended STL's Dinner & a Movie or Govan Queer Space at the Portal. The zine will be coming out in time for Pride and it's being handled by myself (Yvette), so come talk to me about it at any STL event for more info. Everyone who contributes will get a free copy of the zine. Additional copies will be sold to share our work and raise some funds for STL (though 40% of the revenue will go to me, to be transparent, cause printing costs money and binding costs time). This is a zine for anything and everthing (bigotry excepted of course, but you know that already) – so feel free to send in your art, comics, recipes, short stories, erotic poetry, film reviews, TBR lists, as long as it fits the page limit. As such, here are the details:
- Deadline: by the end of GQS on June 9th 2026.
- Submissions have to fit into two pages of A5 (this is around 400–600 words for prose, but don't stress too much).
- Multiple submissions welcome, though only one submission per person will make it in the zine.
- Previously published works are welcome!
- Translations welcome!
- Collage, reappropriating copyright material, all welcome!
- Unless you are going full Kathy Acker, no plagiarism.
- No AI, obviously.
- Please specify whether you want your submission to include a title, a subtitle, no title, your name, a pseudonym, no name, any amount of pronouns, no pronouns, whatever.
- Please also specify if you need any specific formatting/typesetting requirements for your piece. If you don't care either way, I will default to my sensibilities.
- Any format (pdf, txt, rtf, png, literally a drawing on paper, etc) is alright.
- You also have to be willing to have a bit of back and forth with me as I try to get everything to work together, though this can be limited to my material concerns about making your work physical.
- All submissions within these guidelines will be accepted (and if you submit something that doesn't fit within the guidelines, I will work with you to make it fit, dw).
If you are worried about submitting something, don't have ideas, or otherwise want editing or assistance with development, come grab me at a GQS or otherwise email me with what you've got so far, whether that's ideas, half a submission, or a submission that isn't quite finished yet. I have a lot of opinions about writing and I am happy to help people through the more technical elements (syntax, punctuation, spelling) as well as the softer stuff (style, structure). Visual art is something I have fewer opinions on, but GQS is half visual artists anyway so I think you're in good company if you show up there.
